In the library of a Bronxville, New York, house renovated by Steven Gambrel, the Swedish alabaster light fixture is circa 1895, the built-in bookcase is original to the house, and the sofa, banquette, and ottoman are by Gambrel; the silk rug is by Beauvais Carpets, the curtains are of a silk by Beacon Hill, and the John Rosselli & Assoc. wallpaper has a custom overglaze.
The library’s original oak paneling was completely restored; the tufted armchair and slipper chair are upholstered in fabrics by Clarence House and Jane Churchill, respectively, and the French leather armchair by the fireplace dates from the early 1900s.
Gold Butterflies, a painting by Hunt Slonem, takes center stage in the second-floor hall, which is painted in Benjamin Moore’s Seattle Gray; the English bench is antique, and the vintage side table and lamp were found in Europe.
In the foyer, the antique light fixtures were found at auction, the rosewood-framed mirrors are from Paris, the console is vintage, and the lamps are fashioned from 19th-century French urns; the stool is a Gambrel design, and the silk runner is by ABC Carpet & Home.
The reception hall, with its original staircase, now serves as a dining room; the chandelier is vintage, the English fruitwood table is from the 1930s, the Louis XIV chairs have cowhide-leather seats, and the Persian carpet is from the ’20s.
Gambrel designed the family room’s ottoman, armchair, and sectional, which is upholstered in a Brunschwig & Fils fabric; the photograph is by Richard Misrach, the chandelier and Italian lamp are vintage, and the doors are painted in Benjamin Moore’s Adagio.
In the sunroom, the sofas were designed by Gambrel, the rug is custom made, the lamps are from the 1950s, and the ceiling and French doors are original to the house.
The kitchen features custom-made cabinets, marble countertops, and a new coffered ceiling; the light fixtures are vintage, and the refrigerator is by Viking.
The guest room curtains are made of a Cowtan & Tout fabric, the pillows are in a Scalamandré linen, and the wool carpet is by Beauvais Carpets.
In the master bath, the tiles are by Artistic Tile, and the bathtub is by Kohler.
In the master bedroom, the custom-made headboard is upholstered in a Bergamo fabric, the bench is antique, and the French chandelier dates from the 1920s; the lamps are by Christopher Spitzmiller, and the curtains are of a Nancy Corzine silk.
