Southern Scenery: Courtenay Daniels Harden’s New York Apartment

The architects, Britt and Damian Zunino of Studiodb, left untouched the space’s wooden pillars and support beams, which provide a contemporary counterpoint to the Gothic formalism. Due to the loft’s imperfect angles, the designer had the rugs and millwork customized to give the appearance of perfectly straight lines.

The kitchen cabinetry is painted in Farrow & Ball’s Skimming Stone, and the concrete-top island is painted in the company’s Charleston Gray; the light fixture is by Robert Ogden, the wood supports are original to the loft, and the stools are made of vintage tractor seats.
